Director Statement

Intrusive Thoughts began with a simple question: How can I create visual poetry? A film that stands alongside others the way poetry stands alongside prose… delicate, beautiful, and emotionally compelling.
At its core, the story is an intimate conversation between strangers. Yet their hopes, expectations, impulses, and emotions push through their words, layering meaning and deepening the weight of their exchange.
The simple discussion is transformed through elements of mise-en-scene such as: composition, colour, setting and staging. Thus, the story is elevated to visually reflect the journey which the characters undertake - a journey which pushes them apart and eventually brings them back together.
Unintentionally romantic, the film reveals a quiet truth: opposites do not simply attract. They challenge, they coexist, they find harmony in difference.
