Director Statement

When i first got the script for Intrusion, i thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me to work on a dark thriller. The latter has always been my favorite genre to watch, I was very excited to finally challenge myself with the task of telling an interesting yet dark and thrilling short in under 6 min.

Given how short the film is, casting was really crucial. You had to get a vibe from the actors the first time you see them on the screen, casting our hero was fairly easy and i would say we got pretty lucky with the villain. When i first met him, i could tell that once on the screen he would deliver exactly what i was looking for, a calm voice yet a sharp and uneasy stare in his eyes. This perfectly fit the serial killer persona I was going for.

There was no specific movie that influenced the cinematic aspect for the short, I knew i wanted a dark and moody look with a decent use of silhouettes.

Working with a Sony camera was great as we had a lot of low light scenes. Once we got into post production, i knew sound and pace was gonna be very crucial for selling the thrill. There was a lot of sound design, Foley and choice over what music to use and when to use it. Working on such a film that uses both silent and loud soundscapes makes you realize just how really important sound is. It really is 50% of the experience if not more.

I am hoping that the audience will really enjoy this film, we put a lot of work in making sure that they will have an amazing experience and enjoy the short thriller, hopefully they like it and maybe down the road we turn it into a feature film.
