'Introspection'
This video work explores the materiality and immateriality of digital media. Seemingly formless and fluid, digital technology permeates every aspect of our lives creating a network of global interconnectivity. Here digital technology is isolated and turned in on itself. As it replicates it’s own image, reverberations are created in digital space: screens within screens- a kind of technological introspection. I revisited and finalised this work earlier this year when a reliance on digital technology and screen-to-screen communication was at its peak. In this unique context the film seemed to gain a new resonance. Despite this technology becoming commonplace there remains a strange, abstract and intangible beauty beneath it.
