Rachel Lambright is a graduate of the University of South Florida, earning a BFA in Dance Performance with a Modern concentration. Currently residing in Sarasota, FL, Rachel is a rehearsal assistant, dancer, teaching artist, and video editor for Sarasota Contemporary Dance (SCD), under artistic direction of Leymis Bolaños Wilmott. She has presented original works in Sarasota and St. Petersburg, FL, in programs such as “Voices of SCD” and "MOMENTUM: Rising Choreographer Showcase", both of which are dedicated to providing platforms for up-and-coming choreographers. She continually finds joy in pursuing her interest in dance film, as it is another medium to express her curiosity in humanity.
Dance is an art form that is physical and fleeting, ever present and ever disappearing. I create with intention of further understanding self and the human response. I am drawn to how a single moment can become many minutes, how movement can be honest to emotion, and how the quiet can exist within the loud. I believe it is imperative, as a woman, to exercise my voice; I share my voice in hopes that others experience a glimpse of the vast comfort, discomfort, discovery, and challenge this art form, and this life, brings me.
