Joshua A. Taylor is a proud West Virginia native. Having come from a family that owned an operated the local scrapyard, Joshua "cut his teeth" on character impersonations and began what became his early inspirations, to pursue entertainment, as an actor. In 2014, he finally made the big move to Hollywood, where he hurdled through the LA grind, while trying to audition. Finally in 2018, he found himself returning to his hometown of Huntington, where he met is wife. Two kids and one pandemic later, he completes his first feature, as a writer, director, and producer. Since he was no longer directly involved in the Hollywood audition hustle, but still carried the flame for the cinematic arts, he chose to independently continue the pursuit, from good ol' Appalachia.
He and his best friend and business partner, Barry Michael Dailey, took four years (2020-2024) to complete the filming on their first feature, "In the Name of Me and You". This cinematic drama was inspired by their love of Huntington: a town greatly effected by the opioid crisis. Despite all the stereotypes of their home place, or even the reputation of some of the addiction- recovery communities, these men persisted to share a narrative that immerse the audience into character arcs and dramatic story telling, surrounding addiction. They created a feature that shows the ugliness of addiction, but more importantly, reflects the power of what happens when individuals, in these small towns, see how everyone is very much connected.
"In the Name of Me and You", is Joshua A. Taylor's directorial debut. Believing this feature will open more opportunities for him in the film industry, he plans to continue story telling in whatever way that he can.
Having what is now a full feature length movie added to my experience list, I can honestly say that myself or my team didn't let anything stop us from achieving this goal. We chose not to wait on the money or even wait for our personal lives to accept the rigorous film schedule. Instead, we chose to show up and complete the assignment that all driven creatives are internally tasked to do. With that said, I want to say that I am proud of everyone involved with this production and beyond grateful, and I believe that sometimes the things we are waiting on, are really waiting on us.
