From Stoker to Rice; from Nosferatu to classic Hammer onto Twilight, The Strain and beyond - the vampire genre is the world’s most enduring and influential horror genre straddling film, television, literature, theatre, games and new media.

IVFAF brings together vampire media-makers from across the World in one cross-industry event – an intense four-day programme of film screenings, book launches, readings, theatre, seminars, workshops, networking events, a trade fair and parties.

For its first three years, this unique event was held in Transylvania - within the walls of the dramatic medieval citadel that was the birthplace to the real Vlad Dracula.
In 2019 IVFAF will be staged in London with the industry events taking place amid the Victorian Gothic splendour of Highgate Village while Vampfest comes to life each night down in sinful Camden Town.

In October 2020 IVFAF returns to Transylvania in the run up to Halloween!

Selected Feature and Short Film screenings including World Premieres of new and classic vampire movies with expert Q&As, book readings and signings by leading authors, workshops, seminars, talks, walks, Masterclasses, a four day programme of Vampire Theatre, Art Exhibitions, Burlesque, Live Action Role Play, Body Art, Pop-Up Comic Book Shops, Pub (vamp)Rock and The Vampire Ball make IVFAF somewhat unique in our dark world.

Welcome to our festival. Come freely. Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you will bring.

Our vision at IVFAF is to be a unique World leading one-stop meeting of the vampire industry, networking filmmakers and performing arts professionals with funders, promoters, distributors and of course each other.

Submissions are now being accepted for the following categories: Feature Films; Short Films. It goes without saying that all films must be Vampire-themed.

  • The 2019 Vampfest in London was our second time at the event, having taken a trip to Transylvania for the festival in 2018. This time we had our short film The Amulet selected for showing at the festival. The organisers were really friendly and welcoming and we had a great time. It's a great opportunity to meet other film makers and to learn about their experiences. The festival includes an academic conference which provides a unique opportunity to meet not only other filmmakers but authors and academics that are interested in the vampire genre too.

Hi Martyn, we were so pleased to welcome yourself and your team back to IVFAF this year, and over the moon that you brought your first (of many we hope) vampire film with you. Really pleased you had a good time and hope to see you (and more films) at IVFAF 2020. Best, Dewi

What a fantastic festival. I wasn't sure whether it might be a bit too insular but everyone was very open and friendly. Met lots of people from all over the world who had travelled to the festival. Great organisers and very helpful. Fast and helpful communication. Great venues.

A top shelf genre festival. Deeper and more complex than your average horror themed film festival. By incorporating scholars and established industry folks there's a certain validation for those participating. I was fortunate enough to win BEST FEATURE with MIMESIS: NOSFERATU and getting the award from this festival meant so much more. Highly recommend it to those with vampire themed work.
