Private Project

Insomnia

A young woman wakes up tired repeatedly and is scared to go to sleep. She is seen drinking large amounts of caffeine to avoid going to bed. Her family is worried about her, so instead one night she takes melatonin. That night she has a deep sleep with vivid dreams that she cant escape from.
The next night, she falls asleep and forgets to take the melatonin before bed. This time, we see a sinister hand reach towards her as she sleeps. She opens her eyes and is stuck in her sleep paralysis yet again. After a few minutes of this, she wakes up fully and does not sleep for the rest of the night.
The woman does research on what can cause sleep paralysis. She is skeptical of what may have caused it, so that night she goes to bed fully prepared. She falls into sleep paralysis yet again, except this time she sees a figure standing in front of her. The figure cries and makes deep dark sounds. The woman’s mother opens the door to check on her, illuminating the room with light. She does not see the figure and instead just sees her daughter sleeping and closes the door. It is revealed that the figure is actually the another version of the young woman. This makes her come to the confirmation that the woman is a manifestation of her guilt and self pity.
Once she comes to terms with this and accepts herself, she reaches her inner peace. She has defeated her inner demons and is finally happy with herself.
