(In)dependent

“(In)dependent” is a short film about the human influence on the Natural Park of Els Ports de Beseit, in Spain. The story is told from an elder local, that narrates his journey to this mountain range 40 years later, and sees how the park has changed. During the trip, some of the negative consequences of human interference to wild animals are exposed. Climate change, infectious diseases spreading from cattle, and purposeful poisoning might be the main causes of the instability of the pine processionary, the Iberian ibex and the griffon vulture populations, respectively. Due to the director’s predilection on the topic “influence of humans on the natural world”, this documentary questions if the welfare of wildlife is now exclusively dependent on human actions or if there's still a bit of freedom in the natural world.
