Director Statement

His childhood and teenage years went by in an atmosphere of conservative catholicism, and during that time he wished to study many different careers and practice various professions. Even though his father’s death marked a before and after in his life, it wasn’t until he finished high school that he encountered with different cultures, ideas and ways of living that were opposed to the ones he was used to.

The idea of becoming a filmmaker came on the last year of high school, and with the decision of applying to four American film schools came a gap year in which he traveled to New Zealand to try and meet Peter Jackson, by then his favorite filmmaker, so he could become his new personal assistant.

His experience in audiovisual productions starts in that period with the portfolio for the university applications and a few amateur short films. Later would come a few short films at school, work as gaffer in local productions in Queretaro and participation in national contests like the 48 hour film project of the Guanajuato International Film Festival, the Mexico City 48 hour film project, and again at the 48 hour film project of the GIFF, this time as the director of the short film
