In Between Lands
Laura Griffin is a Korean adoptee who was raised in a small town in midwest America. While she grew up feeling American and Caucasion, continual reminders over the years told her otherwise. 23 years after being sent away from her motherland, Laura returns to South Korea in search of belonging and understanding, and discovers just how Asian or non-asian she is.

Director Laura Griffin grew up in Michigan, USA and is now based in the West of Ireland. She is interested in exploring the theme of identity in the context of being an interracial adoptee, woman and immigrant. The 2021 short film, In Between Lands, is her directorial debut.
This is a very personal film that began when I received funding from a local scheme called, Dig Where You Stand, and that is what I did. I dug deeper into my roots and reflected on my journey and how my identity has changed along the way.
While many of us KAD's (Korean Adoptees) share childhood backgrounds, questions and obstacles, each of our stories is equally unique and valuable.
This film is my small contribution to the larger dialogue that needs to continue to take place surrounding interracial adoption. Perhaps the film may even make someone feel a little less alone or a little more understanding.
