Biologists by profession, we live between Moscow, Russia, and Houston, Texas. Traveling a lot around the world, we are very concerned about its fragility and wanted to convey it through our debut short film.
We are very concerned about the fragility of the natural world and the threats our planet faces due to the unprecedented pressure of humanity. By making this film, we chose not to remain uninvolved in this problem.
Our vision is conveyed in the film through three dimensions. First, the one challenging day in the life of our character, a young woman. Second, her nightmare that hauntingly and frighteningly mirrors events in the real world, both preceding and forthcoming. And finally, the impasse faced by all of humanity. These three dimensions are inextricably linked to each other in the ensemble that makes up the substance of the film.
We ask the question of how we behave when faced with challenges: are we active or just use our dreams to escape from reality? Throughout the film, our character tries both tactics but finally confronts the fact that the problem is beyond the control of a single person and must be solved with the help of others. Many others.
There are two color and sound design themes in our film: an exhausting hot yellow and red palette, accompanied by a disturbing cicadas chorus. These reflect the imminent approach of global warming and is contrasted with a cold icy tone of an otherworldly lifeless nightmare without the shadow of any salvation. With the main music theme, we tried to capture the feeling of the hopelessness of the situation, a way that ends in an impasse. We constantly questioned ourselves in this regard and encourage an audience to get this short story in touch with their hearts.
