Immortal Tigers
Immortal Tigers is a documentary that takes a look at the history of Dunbar High School, Lufkin's high school for African Americans before integration. Through the work of alumni and community members, the Legacy of Dunbar High School has been kept alive with the Dunbar Hall of Honor.
Lufkin senior Lilly Langston interviews several alumni of the school to get a better understanding of how Dunbar was more than a school. It was a community. Immortal Tigers also shows how current Lufkin High School students were able to honor the legacy of the three-time football state champion Dunbar Tigers at a 2022 football game.

Lilly Langston is a proud member of the Lufkin High School Class of 2023. Langston worked on her first ever project while enrolled in the school's AV1 class. Langston is a member of the school's film club, a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Art Student.
We live in a society in which it’s commonly assumed that in order to move on from the past, we have to bury it. This is not the case. History is not good or bad, it’s just fact. Lufkin was segregated, that is a fact. Burying the past doesn’t do anything but invalidate the stories of those who lived it. I wanted to choose a story that told itself, was something close to home, and was something that has been buried for too long. The legacy of Dunbar High School checked all those boxes and more.
