Immigrant
Immigrant is a gripping, emotional tale of survival, resilience, and the sacrifices immigrants make in pursuit of a better future. It asks the question: how far will you go to keep your dreams alive when the world conspires to break you?
In a foreign land where dreams are a currency, Rohit, an immigrant caught between survival and ambition, navigates a treacherous landscape of hope, despair, and betrayal.
One night, what begins as an ordinary ride takes an unexpected turn—a conversation that starts with warmth slowly gives way to an unsettling tension. What seems like a chance encounter quickly unravels into a series of chilling events that leave Rohit battered, betrayed, and questioning everything he knows.
With his spirit fractured, he contemplates leaving behind the life he has painstakingly built to return to the one constant in his world—his mother. But as the echoes of his struggles reverberate, Rohit must decide: will he give up on his dreams or fight to reclaim them in a world that seems stacked against him?

Vivek Mitra is a filmmaker who embarked on his cinematic journey with no formal training but a deep passion for storytelling. A self-taught artist, Vivek has dedicated himself to the craft of filmmaking, constantly evolving and learning from the masters. His love for cinema is influenced by legendary directors like Satyajit Ray and Christopher Nolan, whose works have shaped his understanding of the power of visual storytelling.
Driven by a desire to explore human complexities, Vivek has always been fascinated by narratives that speak to the heart and the human experience. With a keen eye for detail and a bold narrative style, he has set out to create films that resonate on a deeply emotional level.
His directorial debut, the short film "Immigrant", delves into themes of survival, resilience, and the sacrifices made in pursuit of a better future. Through this film, Vivek showcases his commitment to shedding light on poignant human experiences and the complexities of the immigrant journey.
As a self-taught filmmaker, my journey into cinema has been driven by a deep love for storytelling and a constant desire to understand the complexities of the human experience. The story of Immigrant was born from a simple yet powerful question: What does it take to hold onto your dreams in a world that seems bent on breaking you?
This short film reflects my fascination with resilience—the strength we find in ourselves when faced with adversity—and the quiet sacrifices made in pursuit of a better future. I wanted to tell a story that speaks to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, fought to belong, or struggled with the fear of failure. Through Rohit’s journey, I explore themes of survival, hope, and the emotional cost of migration.
Influenced by filmmakers like Satyajit Ray and Christopher Nolan, I sought to create a cinematic experience that is both emotionally powerful and visually evocative. My aim was to capture the tension between personal ambition and the harsh realities of life in a foreign land, and to tell a story that is both intimate and universally relatable.
Immigrant is my debut film, and in it, I hope to shed light on the quiet, often overlooked struggles of immigrants. It’s a story about fighting for one’s dreams, no matter how far the road may seem. Through this film, I hope to offer a voice to those whose stories often go unheard, and to invite audiences to reflect on the sacrifices we make to build the future we desire.
