Immanuel

Wenzhou, the city with the highest number of Christians in China. During the Chinese New Year, the camera follows two elderly people from Wenzhou, entering their ordinary and simple daily lives. They work in the fields or factories during the day, and gather with neighbors in their homes to pray to God at night. However, the debt of their daughter disrupts the peace of their lives, and the silent hardships of the two elderly people become apparent. The roaring factory machines, bundles of inexpensive vegetables, and the meaning of labor have become unclear to them, as their faith intertwines with the minutiae of life.
