Writer/Director Matthew Herst has been passionate about telling stories since he started speaking. With “I’m Not Gone” he wants to tell a story about seeing the world through other’s eyes, following the character of Monica as she tries to help the ghost of Edgar reunite with his true love, Violet.
When initially creating I'm Not Gone, I wanted to tell a story that feels real, despite the supernatural elements that are introduced through Edgar. The idea of crafting an unconventional and rocky partnership appealed to me and opened up a lot of dramatic opportunities, and even allowed for some small moments of humor. In the end, this structure allowed me to create a compelling story with a diverse cast of characters that are all unique and emotionally diverse.
