Jessica: My name is Jessica Le and I am an 8th grader from Fremont, California. I wrote my first screenplay when I was in my last year of elementary school for a class project. From then on, I have developed a substantial interest in film writing and a wish to pursue that career professionally. In the past three years, I have drastically changed my style of writing to produce more dynamic works. I hope to be able to make a positive difference in this world with my screenplays.
Jasmeen: My name is Jasmeen Suman and I’m an 8th grader from Fremont, California. My journey began in 6th grade when an idea hit me and completely changed my life. Ever since that instant, I found a love for screenwriting and a desire to continue pursuing this artistic career. Through these years, I have grown and overcame all the challenges and letdowns I have faced. At first, it was hard and I was not qualified whatsoever. People talked and looked down upon me but that didn’t stop me. To this day, I am thankful for the hardships and criticism endured. It only pushed me and inspired me to work hard and strive for bigger success.
Jessica: When writing a screenplay, I always strive to send a message to the audience. This is because I believe that every good movie should teach an important lesson. Whether it is by the actions, character's lines or camera shots, each scene brings out an emotion. We cry, laugh, and think to ourselves about what an actor is saying. We aim to be a better person and achieve our dreams, but understand that challenges will come our way. Through movies, any scene can create a lasting impact on a person. That is why I want to be a screenwriter.
Jasmeen: My main goal is to deliver a powerful message to the world with my ideas and screenplays. I love to write Dystopian and Utopian scripts that encounter problems around the world such as self-realization. Some of my inspirations are Neel Kolhatkar and Eric Heisserer because their work motivates me to work hard and strive for success. I've learned from them that inspiration is everywhere but what matters is what you take out of it. The reason I write is to let my imagination flow freely and create a work of art. Writing is a passionate thing and when your work comes to life, it’s the most beautiful feeling in the world.
