I'll Tell You When You're Older is the story of Matt, Emily, and Shawn Porter, a father, mother, and son whose relationship finds itself on precarious footing when Shawn discovers he's adopted and Matt and Emily have been keeping it a secret from him.
The story comes from wanting to address a political topic of utmost importance to me, while also not wanting to make a film ABOUT that topic. As such, we've constructed a film about personal responsibility and regret that showcases a family going through its own personal drama and how, when tragedy decides to rear its ugly head, it doesn't care that you're busy with your own personal drama. It is my hope that audiences who see this film will find themselves more proactive when faced with this daily issue.
