Il ballo delle ingrate – the body of emancipation

Ghosts. The ingrates are initially ghosts, but that incorporeal form is too tight for them. They wriggle free. They reclaim what has been taken from them: corporality, freedom. But the body is lacerated and mutilated, a sign that the freedom was obtained through struggling. Their ancestors did not have the same luck: they were denied the possibility of being women and, for having disobeyed men, they were transformed into damned souls, forced into eternal oblivion.
