Ijo: A Love Story

Meaning DANCE in the Yoruba Language, Ijo is a short film Written and Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay. This Nigerian tale of love tells the story of a depressed man who seeks closure and healing through dance after a lover’s quarrel.

Director Biography - Fatimah Binta Gimsay

Fatimah Binta Gimsay is a screenwriter, director and producer for film, television and web working in Lagos, Nigeria.

With more than four years of experience in storytelling and content producing, she is deeply passionate about storytelling and the creative industry, and is ready to explore every path in content creation.

She has written over 6500 minutes of primetime television (some include, Enakhe, Riona, Battleground), and as well developed, researched and story edited over 10,000 minutes of television and web content in the last four years.

Ijo is a love story that explores the highest form of love, grief. It shows the rawness and pure vulnerability that happens when you fully open yourself to the act of loving another human being. It's an ode to love and healing.
