Ignited States
Jud Nichols’ hometown of Minneapolis erupts into chaos after the violent death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of a white police officer.
Having dedicated his life to fighting the systemic injustices brought on by slavery and its lasting effects, the zealous public defender becomes a relentless video journalist almost over night.
Defending his underrepresented clients in the courtrooms by day and taking to the streets documenting the impassioned protesting and rioting by night, Jud begins to question his alliance to the cause.
The journey he undertakes leads to an unraveling of preconceived notions. In the end, Jud gives his viewers an opportunity to reflect on their assumptions surrounding this horrific chapter of United States history and calls us to put the pieces back together, perhaps this time in a way we hadn’t previously considered.
