Following the success of 2017 edition, ICFF Youth is preparing for a new and enriched celebration of cinema, which will run April 13 to April 19, 2018. The big news for the next edition is the contest "Schools Teach ICFF Youth – Your Short". This initiative allows young people to experience the world of film first-hand and receive the theoretical and practical support necessary to fulfill their goals. This project is an integral part of the educational process and gives students an opportunity to approach cinema for the first time, giving them a sense of how creativity can be expressed through different media and, as well, how the industry operates.

The winning film will receive the Jim Saraco Award and will be screened at the Seventh Annual ICFF in June 2018.

The winning film may be mentioned in all of the ICFF Youth. communications and publicity and used for all media and press purposes including promotional materials, interviews, press conferences, etc.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Participation is free and does not require and prerequisite registration.
All proposals received after the deadline and/or not meeting the above criteria will be excluded from the competition.

COPYRIGHT
Each participant or team submitting a proposal recognizes that he/she/they is the author of the film. The participants must also certify that the submission does not affect any third-party rights and does not violate copyright, directly or indirectly. The winner commits to giving their complete copyright to ICFF Youth. The winning projects will become the exclusive property of ICFF Youth, which reserve the right to use, modify, exhibit in the present and in the future, sell as a by-product of the festival, adapt and reproduce the poster in any medium, without any given time limit and in such a way that the use grants the winner or his/her family no rights other than the award mentioned in Article 9 of the Rules and Regulations.
Participants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions and clearances related to the reproduction of people’s names, photos and moving images.

FINALIST SELECTION CRITERIA AND DECLARATION OF THE WINNER
Each submission will be examined according to the following criteria: a) originality of the script; b) visual and structural quality (acting, lighting, camera, editing); c) ability to integrate the script with the film medium and the chosen genre (drama, comedy, doc, etc.).

ANNOUNCING THE RESULTS
The ICFF Youth team will directly notify both the 3 shortlisted films and the final winner to the concerned authors. The shortlisted film and the winner will be also announced on the ICFF website (www.icff.ca).

AWARDS
The winning film will receive the Jim Saraco Award and will be screened at the Seventh Annual ICFF in June 2018.

CONTEST CANCELLATION
If ICFF Youth. does not receive enough participants or if no contestant is deemed satisfactory, the festival reserves the right to extend, suspend or cancel the contest at any time. No complaints from other participants will be accepted.

EXCLUSIONS
ICFF Youth reserves the right to exclude any contestant who plagiarized the work of another candidate or used non-cleared copyrighted materials.
