Director Biography - Chase Nickoles

Chase Nickoles is a 22-year-old artist, animator, and videographer with a background in graphic design, digital photography, drawing, painting, and printmaking. He recently received a BFA in animation at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and has an Associate of Arts & Sciences, Visual Arts Concentration from Carroll Community College. During his time at Carroll, he was the Fine Arts Club 2020 member of the year, Curators Choice Award 2020 winner, and a dual work-study animator and media aid.

In the summer of 2022, he took a motion design internship with Baltimore-based Early Light Media, and in 2019, after being the Maryland STEM 2019 Art Festival contest college winner, he had his art hung up at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Additionally, he creates performance and narrative music videos for performing artist devoN Nickoles.

He hopes to soon start a career in television and film animation.

Director Statement

This short was inspired by noises coming from the attic and was made using Autodesk Sketchbook, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere. It also is the actorial debut of my cat, Smokey!
