I am her

A farewell rose that speaks 1001 attributions of femininity as a fascinating lament with subliminal humor:"Oh no, not again!" Behind her are the deconstructed registers of identity politics, in front of her lie unimagined transformations: fusions of digital promises and gender super-signs with the long breath of a primeval fish. An osmotic crossing of boundaries.

Director Biography - Rosh Zeeba

Rosh Zeeba (they/them, born in Tehran) work in the fields of performance, video, film, extended media and artistic research.

Their studies include applied theater studies in Giessen as well as time-based media and film at Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg.

Through the use of extended media and a performative approach, Zeeba elaborates multidirectional narratives and opens up a realm of (Iranian) queerness, deconstructed ornamentalism and decolonial practice. The story tells itself and is interwoven through space, image and viewer. Zeeba engages with post-dramatic cinema, post-cyberfeminism, queer theory and artistic research about radical image production.

Topics: Crossings, glitching, irritation, intertwining, broken thread, memory and dreams, ghosts and intergenerational trauma, Iranic mythology and soft world-building.

Zeeba’s works and lectures have i.a. taken place in Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival, Tetem (NL), MOM Art Space and RaumLinksRechts (HH), Balkan Can Kino (Athens), Leuphana University, Kunsthaus Hamburg and Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof, Xposed Queer Film Festival Berlin, Fluctoplasma Festival, Favoriten Festival and Grrl Haus Cinema. As a part of the para-institutional project Haus Of Xhaos they curate FEEVA (Forum for Experimental and Emancipatory Video Art) and host a monthly podcast at FSK Hamburg.
