Concept realized by Ida Zenna

I SOLA TION 2.0 was conceived as a direct reaction to our current climate and the need to MOVE in a period of still - to feel alive and to reconnect with ourselves and one another using the medium of dance through a lens.

I was a professional dancer and was always curious about the technique of isolation, which experiments with the idea of moving body parts independently from the rest of the frame, in order to bring emphasis to the overall movement.

For the past 14 years, I have worked as a theater photographer, specializing in dance.
I did not believe, after all these years, that I would once again be confronted with the theme of isolation in my professional life.

These parallels encouraged the curiosity to create a bridge between isolation as a technique in dance and isolation as a state of being in which we find ourselves.

Each dancer has experienced these two approaches of the subject matter during this project, encountering isolation as a technique and as a state of being. And each in their own way.

An intimate and subtle project.

I SOLA TION 2.0 was conceived and created by means of video conference and then filmed in person, alone during a single hour, following all hygiene measure with windows open blowing in the cold air of January. 

These generous artists not only opened the doors of their homes to me but, furthermore, they allowed me to analyse and shape their emotions, in a period which is delicate and fragile for all.

Szymon Brzoska, with his original composition created for this project, gives sound to our souls.
