The INYFF was the best film festival we’ve been in so far. Diana Lenska, the festival organizer and all-around-person on the scene, was welcoming, helpful, and did so much to encourage communication among the filmmakers. That made for a warm, inviting, and informative event.

What I really loved most was the mix of filmmakers,, some had come from as far as Japan and Thailand, and some were young and new at the craft, while others were older and more seasoned. All groups learned so much from each other and from screening each others’ films.

Our feature-length documentary, Concerto, which won the Best Documentary Award at the festival, was screened the first night. We were treated with such respect and professionalism by the festival staff. One of the subjects of my documentary, violinist Charles Rex, came from his home in CT to be at the screening and received such a warm reception from all the filmmakers, audience members and staff.

Diana Lenska’s workshop on distribution was well worth it. I’ve been to multiple film festivals and film workshops, and her presentation is at the top of my list. In one hour she covered the topic of distribution succinctly and energetically, and I left feeling far more prepared to look at distributing my film than before I attended her workshop.

My co-producer/editor and I also made many friends among the filmmakers. I’m excited about our new contacts and hope to stay friends with them.

I strongly recommend this festival to new filmmakers and seasoned ones alike. I am not submitting any work for next year’s festival, but I intend to come back to NYC (I live in NC) to be an audience member and look forward to another wonderful networking opportunity.

  • The festival was at an awesome venue just off of NY Time Square. It was a little bit on the smaller side but it definitely helped develop some good networking opportunities.

  • So honored to have received a Silver Award in the Experimental Category for "colonial blindness" at the INYFF. This is a well-organized festival with great heart. I made new friends, watched great films, and learned bucketfuls in the filmmakers workshop!

We attended the International New York Film Festival in New York last week and had such a wonderful time. The festival staff was the best and made us feel like part of the family. Great films from around the world. A must attend festival for film makers and screen writers. Especially enjoyed the workshop and the important industry inside information we obtained. Made some creative new international friends as a bonus. Will be there next year.
