Director Statement

I have always found it hard to speak about myself. Ever since my childhood days
I found means to express my feelings through so much different bizarre ways I've lost
count. I was doing magic tricks to impress, to give a reason for people to believe I'm
special. I learned guitar trying to achieve the same thing through sound, then I learned
drums because I needed people to feel the rhythm I felt. I wrote essays and poems
wanting to show myself through metaphors. I made up my own boardgames to get
people engaged in something fun. I started experimenting with photography where I
felt safe behind the lens, letting it speak for me. I always wanted to be good at
something just as a proof of existence and this continued on until one day I went on to
create, direct and edit my first video.
A small little short aimed to hype my school up about our Halloween celebration. And it
changed my life.
Right then and there I decided I want to pursue my dreams in filmmaking.
Seeing people's reactions to what I had created made me feel something I never felt
before. It made me feel completely honest about who I wanted to be. It made me feel
that I finally managed to talk about myself. I found that all the puzzle pieces of my
different hobbies combined into one when creating film:
Visuals, Music, Rhythm, Trickery, Poetry and Literature. It was wonderful.
Now, after going through film school and learning all the ways I can indirectly speak
about myself as I always wished I could. After understanding how cinema works and
getting to practice it in the process, I feel that I am ready to take one my first big
project in which I strongly believe in called " In Red", hoping that through it, I will talk.
