Hungry kids ask their mother for food but the mother had to feed them with calculation. the kids ask if they could go to their maternity home for better food. but the mother remembers how she was insulted by her own mother by inviting them on the next day of the feast.
Her mother tells that all her sisters were wealthy and she could not bear how her sisters mocks her poverty. Indrayani then realizes because of her poverty her own mother discriminates her. the story then takes a turn when her husband returns home after 3 years earning enough money.
The news spreads and the family is invited for the feast but the mother rebels against the societal norms saying that she was invited only because they were rich and she puts all the ornaments in the plate saying that her mother invited them only because of the ornaments. so she is feeding the feast to the ornaments

indrayani is worshiped as goddess in Nepal. there is a festival solely to worship the goddess only.

Director Biography - Darshan Shakya

Darshan (Bir) Shakya was born in kathmandu, Nepal. His father Naresh bir shakya is a renoun activist from newar community and his mother is Pragya shakya.

In 2014, first time writer direcor Darshan's The Myth won the best Short movie, the best director and the best script at 1st newa short film festival winning the cash prize of 25000 rs. It was the first biggest amount ever in movie award for newar community.
Four years later writer director darshan's next short movie the myth 0 (zero) won the second prize in nepalbhasa short film festival 1138. between the years Darshan had also wrote a screenplay for Ghoshak, a film based on historic event during buddha's era. the movie will be released by early 2020.
The latest short movie Indrayani is yet an adaptaion of a folk tale, very popular in kathmandu. Indrayani is also known as Lunti Ajima.
