Garnish Muhammad was born on July 2, 1997, in Bogor, West Java of Indonesia. He started learning animation and illustration in his junior high school days. By the time he went to college, he was able to make several amateur animation films. He won his first Student Award with his first 2D animation film, Milk. Later, he jumped to 3D animation and won another one with his film, Shypon. For his final thesis, Garnish decided to go back to 2D and created (IM)MORTAL THEATRE. The film was able to enter local film festivals, and won first runner up in the Student Academy Award for Final Thesis films.
His love for film and animation was developed by his family’s passion for art. Many members of Garnish’s family are graphic designers, film editors, illustrators, and artists. Because of this, he was exposed to a lot of creative media since he was a child. Eventually, film and animation became his creative journey of choosing.
On this final project, we are interested in telling a story about society, humanity, time, and basically life. Animation has been a very interesting media in telling stories about life and on this opportunity we would like to portray the situation of our society here, in Indonesia. It's interesting too to see how human's way of thinking and how people make decisions could show the real side of everyone.
We hope that this movie would touch the audience and maybe 'tickled' some of us by the truth we were trying to express.
Enjoy our short animation, (IM)MORTAL THEATRE, cheers!
