Denise Pilien is a 20-year-old filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia.
She is a recent film graduate of Swinburne University of Technology, wherewith her graduate film she wrote and directed ‘I, Malaya’ was selected to be premiered at Village Cinemas
Coburg Drive-In, for Cineasthesia 2021-2022.
She currently works at a supermarket as a casual team member however, she is already planning on making even more short films as she endeavors to make filmmaking her main career path. Denise loves to make meaningful and heartwarming films, often coming-of-age dramas that tackle societal issues. She gets her
inspiration from poetry and music, as well as her own experiences in life, and others’ experiences.
She hopes to experiment with different genrés such as comedy in the future, whilst also
expanding her experiences and skills as a Writer and Director.
