I Hella Love Shorts (IHLS) is a quarterly short films festival designed to promote independent films that reflect the rich and diverse experiences from around the globe. We support and showcase emerging/established film-makers, and provide a fun and entertaining short film experience for film-makers and film lovers.
*Women and student film-makers encouraged to submit!*

Our location - The Flight Deck is an artist friendly venue created by artists. It features a black box theater for performances and a painting gallery for customers viewing pleasure.

This Event sells out every Quarter!

Doors open at 5.30pm
Screening starts at 6pm
Q&A with filmmakers immediately after screenings at 7.30pm
Reception and Mingling follows.

Audience Choice Award.

Rules & Terms

Submitted films should be no longer that 20 minutes!

Every quarter, the audience receive a ballot with all the names of film screened and the film with the most number of votes gets the audience award

    I have been a part of this festival on and off since 2014, and I love it. Not a lot of pomp and circumstance - just showing some great films! I love that they do the festival quarterly, and it's one of the few festivals where most of the audience is not filmmakers! It's a well-known festival around Oakland, and locals show up because we know we can count on an awesome line up!

    Great mix of films from all over the world. Wine & popcorn w/ admission. Best part: the host's introduction of the films and conversation with the audience & present filmmakers in the end. A willingness to present and explore controversial topics in a very respectful & fun environment. We'll be back!
