The FilmGate Short Film Festival (formerly known as I'm Not Gonna Move to L.A!" N.O.L.A) is the longest-running monthly short film series in Florida, created to celebrate local culture, diversity and regional creativity. Every month, FilmGate Miami highlights Florida's community of actors, filmmakers, and video + audio production studios. We accept short films, documentaries, music videos and web series from Florida or made by a Florida citizen, 25 minutes or less.

The screening takes place on the third Wednesday of each month at the luxurious Silverspot Cinema Downtown Miami.

Couldn't be more grateful for events like this. From the brand new state of the art theater, to the great networking opportunities and hospitality. It's a great place to showcase your film and to see how the audience reacts to it, as well as meeting other creators and forge new industry relationships; even if you don't have a film playing. Truly honored and humbled to have won for Best Music Video. Shy Monster Thanks you

  • NOLA is a really great festival! I submitted my first short FIRE to NOLA, and connected with other Miami filmmakers who later helped me make MALABAR, my second short. MALABAR recently won the Audience and Judges Award at NOLA and has been acquired by HBO. Five years ago that would have seemed like a long shot. NOLA without question is the most important film festival in Miami. It is where Miami filmmakers connect to each other in a real and meaningful way. And Filmgate has done an exceptional job at building a filmmaking community that was disconnected and disjointed before they came along.

I can't say how great this festival is and what an incredibly important organization FilmGate is. Definitely one of the major organizations and festivals that you need to align yourself with when coming in Miami. All the major players will be here.
