I Ain't Mad at Ya
Kayla's hometown best friend Lex comes to LA to visit her. It is evident how much the two have changed from when they were children through subtle nuances. Lex is looking for the perfect time to tell Kayla some big news, but is intimidated by her new lifestyle. When she does finally get it out however, the two girls have a child-like reconnection.

Devyn Dyett is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Southern California pursuing a BFA in Film and Television Production. Growing up in sunny South Florida, Devyn spent most of her time playing basketball and at the beach. In 2019, she picked up a camera to record a football game for a school assignment and hasn’t put it down since. Devyn wants to share stories through filmmaking and has aspirations of becoming an award-winning director. Her goal is to produce content that will broaden perspectives and help connect cultures.
A lot has changed for me in the past two years as a result of moving to the other side of the country and pursuing a career in filmmaking. Many of my close friends and family I grew up with don’t understand my new life, and vice versa. It’s hard, as I’ve missed Thanksgivings, birthdays, my sister’s graduation, and more.
Based on the 1996 Tupac record “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” and the more recent take on the concept by Rod Wave in 2020, I Ain’t Mad at Cha explores the dynamics of old friends who have grown apart and taken different paths in life.
I am captivated by film’s ability to evoke emotion within the audience and am passionate about sharing stories. Through my work, I hope to create connections between cultures and show that we are all more alike than we think.
