Elizabeth Whitfield is a filmmaker who recently directed the sardonic comic short, Hysterical (2023). The script, for which she was awarded grant money from the HFPA, was selected by a board of CSULB Film and Electronic Arts faculty. She is tremendously grateful for the talented female led crew of Hysterical, and looks forward to continuing to uplift the creative voices of women in future projects.
Her directorial debut, Our Boy Butch (2022), was selected to be screened at CSULB’s Full Spectrum Showcase. Both films address themes of identity, fame, and complex interpersonal relationships; topics which Elizabeth feels passionate about exploring through her work.
In addition to directing, she enjoys production coordination, art direction, costuming, and script supervision. These roles have allowed her to utilize her keen attention to detail and eye for aesthetics. Patience, organization, and a willingness to engage with creative challenges are qualities she brings to every set.
