Aaron C. Wong is a writer and director based in Portland, Oregon. His drama/thriller screenplay GARAMBA was honored as a Nicholl Finalist and is in the top 1% of all projects on Coverfly. With over 17 years in narrative and commercial production, films featuring his cinematography have received BAFTA and African Movie Academy awards.
Aaron grew up in Memphis, Tennessee of mixed descent and first-generation, with his father an immigrant from Hong Kong. Continuing to seek out ways to celebrate our shared humanity, he enjoys telling stories favoring voices not necessarily quieter but lesser heard. With a focus on drama and dramedies, he’s driven to engage complex societal subjects with sensitivity, compassion, and humor.
Receiving a BFA in British Literature from UCLA and an MFA in Film and Television Production from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Aaron extended his education with a series of adventures: teaching 8th grade in Mississippi, editing for ABC News in NYC, and DP’ing features in Ghana. He continues to learn from the world by being a strong advocate for civic participation, particularly regarding environmentalism and social justice. In his free time, he also enjoys hiking, surfing, and Jeet Kune Do.
