Carmelo Segreto is an Italian screenwriter and director. Born in Sicily in 1991. His film education takes place at the Centro Studi Duse International and at the Renoir Cinema Academy, having as teachers the directors Francesco Munzi, Piero Messina, Ciro d'Emilio and Letizia Lamartire.
He graduated in Cinema at the Dams of Bologna with a degree thesis on "Non essere Cattivo" by Claudio Caligari.
The first is a documentary on the history of Libero Grassi and Pina Maisano entitled "I want to be Libero", distributed in the integrated high schools of the "Day of Elected Civil Virtues" established by the Civil Association Giorgio Ambrosoli.
The second, in 2018, is a drama entitled "A day at a time" starring and unique actor Andrea Planamente. With this short film he participated in the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival 2018, won the award for Best Short Film at the International "Premio Giulio Questi" Festival for Under 27 directors and the Rai Cinema Channel Award at the Social World Film Festival 2018, the Cinebus 2018 award Best film of Italian cinema at the cinema, as well as participating in numerous Italian and international festivals.
The third short film, entitled "Humam" and released in 2019, features Aniello Arena and Miloud Benamara, in addition to the original music by Giuliano Taviani.
