Hugo embarked on his professional journey as a machinima artist, achieving early recognition with accolades such as the Best Movie Made in Second Life award at the Rezzable Machinima Festival. His machinima, “The Labyrinth,” earned a nomination for Best Short Digital Film at the Festroia International Film Festival.
Transitioning to documentary directing, he helmed the thought-provoking 12-episode web series, “UBI – A Path to Freedom,” delving into the intricacies of Universal Basic Income. In 2022, he collaborated with the renowned American band Hercules & Love Affair, contributing his directorial prowess to the compelling documentary “Continuity.” His latest documentary, “CARNE – The Unsustainable Footprint,” has been nominated for Best Portuguese Film at the prestigious Fantasporto 2024 International Festival.
His passion lies in documentary filmmaking, yet his expertise extends to directing TV shows and assisting companies and institutions in creating their video content and strategy.
He has served as a guest lecturer at numerous universities across Europe, including Denmark, Belgium, Romania, Portugal, and Spain. Additionally, he conducts workshops on documentary filmmaking.
