The Hudson River International Film Festival (HRIFF) is the first Latin American film festival in the New York and Northern New Jersey area. The HRIFF is created as an educational space for all those who love and seek in cinema an ideal expression of artistic creativity and cultural diversity. The festival is also in partnership with the United Nations Association of El Salvador (UNA-SV).

The HRIFF will give up and coming and seasoned filmmakers the opportunity to better showcase their work while improving our community. We will disseminate and recognize Latin American cinematographic works, which, through their meaning and artistic values, contribute to enrich, reaffirm and promote the cultural identity of our countries, which will make our festival one of the most important audiovisual and exhibition events in the region.

In preparation for the event we are hosting various workshops, which provide vitally needed educational activities to the community; in addition to introducing them to the arts. Workshops are geared towards adults and young people.

HRIFF is comprised of an enthusiastic group of individuals whose goal is to promote our cultures with film screenings, and the improvement of our community through education and the arts. We are embarking on a long term plan to remove the negative stereotypes associated with minorities.

The Hudson River International Film Festival welcome all filmmakers to submit shorts and features of all genres and categories that pertain to the American Latino experience which include: Documentaries, Narrative Dramas, Comedies, American Latinx stories, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, etc.

We are launching the Hudson River International Film Festival for the first time. Submissions will be reviewed and critiqued by other filmmakers and professionals. We will promote accepted films and expose them to the United States market and Latinos which may never have seen these films before. We will offer the opportunity to have a second film from an accepted Submitter to be shown at next year’s festival where we expect monetary compensation will be offered.

Selected filmmakers will receive an official certificate with the HRIFF and United Nations Association of El Salvador seal.
