Private Project

This project is to create awareness about human misbehavior that has caused severe damage to manatees. The major threats to manatees in Florida are propeller cuts and impacts from watercraft collisions. Most manatees in the water have survived collisions with boats; they carry scars on their backs or tails.

Jellyfish find out that reckless boat drivers in Florida cause the manatees’ injuries. Jellyfish provide light barriers between the manatees and the boat to protect their friends.

Director Biography - Sea Jin Park

I am a recent animation graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design. My love for storytelling through animation as well as animals led me to create the film HuManatee to help protect the endangered and docile manatee. I deeply care about ecology and want to support our environment by creating awareness through charming films.

I am a reserved person who embraces modesty and cringes at showboating; hence, I am not yet very active on any platform of social media. However, I truly believe the film I have put together needs attention, so I decided to open up a bit more. And my target career path forced me to have my own website for portfolio showcases anyway.
My superpowers are the following:

1. Animating entire films, frame-by-frame including clean up and color
2. Remaining functional after all-nighters for two straight days
3. Eating slowly when I am hungry.

Thanks for the interest and reading my biography :)

Director Statement

Making a good-looking film is one heck of a challenge, but I never understood putting tremendous time and efforts into a story that is not worth making. Strong visual storytelling can break all the boundaries: language, border, culture, and emotion. I try to bring cross cultural (including underwater, above the sky) connections that is only possible through intensive research, thought process, and experience. My strength is very consistent. When I start to believe in a project that I am working on, I am able to switch my mindset on to the level that “this is work of art that will remain if I die tomorrow”.
