How on Earth?

Climate anxious individuals shift into community action when 5 archetypal hosts in the areas of embodiment, art, design, ecology, and science offer a spectrum of solutions. These branded archetypes are designed to help real people identify who they are, why they belong, and how they can contribute.

After a doorbell rings, cameras follow everyman characters through their homes until they open the door to their matching archetype. Through some 1:1 peer support, the everyman gets to voice questions many people across the world are seeking answers to. Then the other 4 Hosts arrive to work with the everyman to develop a total of 5 different effective actions ranging from rituals, murals, gardens, systems, and experiments. Finally, the everyman chooses a way to invite their community to join in.

Director Biography - Amber Peoples

As a farm kid and adult storyteller, I created the Earth Archetypes framework after seven focused years of exploring how Earth is my Home and Arts are my Skillset. Watch Earthmates Podcast Episode One; “5 Earth Archetypes Explained: Origin Story” to hear the 15 minute version! ?v=L6t3B1C73yU

These 5 archetypes are the foundation of all the content I create, such as reality tv series "How on Earth?" and "Climate of AWE: Arts WITH Ecology."

With an MA in Theater Production, I have created and experimented for over two decades inside renovated buildings like Ecotrust, on theater stages with Science on Tap, out in the open air at Portland Farmers Market, and across 135 miles of coastline through Live Culture Coast. My approach to all these projects includes a foundational understanding of how people learn based on a BA in English Education and 8 years of teaching middle school, high school, and college.

Director Statement

70% of Americans are concerned about climate change. Yet, after 50 years of scientific language, dystopian stories, and fossil fuel PR, most people silently worry they don’t have what it takes to make a difference.

So they start to look like that shrugging shoulders emoji character and ask, "What can I do about climate?" This is somewhere between a cop-out and a trauma response. And I get it. I’ve been there many times. So let’s change the question to... “Who am I?”

Because just like any relationship, it matters! And climate is the ultimate relationship.

Love Languages created a common understanding that we have different expressions of love – starting with 5 and now extending to personal choices like “sarcasm” and “iced coffee.” Similarly, the Earth Archetypes have the potential to quickly create a sense of relationship with planet, self, and others.

Earth Archetypes can help people find their paths from climate anxiety to community action. And reality tv like "How on Earth?" are a great way to show the story in action.
