How
Project “How” reinterprets the meaning of Heavy-Duty wear(Durable Heavy-Duty wear is mainly mainstream in men’s fashion, and can be largely divided into these categories : Work-wear, Tech-wear, Sport-wear and Out-door wear) with Dépaysement, which is an aesthetic expression within Surrealism. We reproduced the two most opposite characteristics. Thus, this project is a reiteration of the garments’ most functional characteristics. Project “How” twists and reinterprets the original functions of garments, delivers novelty by reinterpreting functions, and at the same time produce to the audience the characteristics of Heavy-Duty wear. I hope that all audience and the public watching this project will get out the habitually hardened unconscious routine. After the Covid-19, as digital world expands, people accept thousands of images and information a day without doubt. I try to give audience and the public a freshness by mixing surrealism with Heavy-Duty wear. Therefore, this project is the result of a mixture of fashion that emphasise function, tradition and rule and Dépaysment aesthetics ; the art technique of Depaysement is as follows, Scale change, deformation of form, the encounter of unrelated objects, heterogeneous coupling of objects, place a object in unfamiliar space, move unfamiliar location of body parts, transition of utilisation, switch locations and switch recognition.
The original function of garments will have a new function. The shoes and the pockets of the clothes were used as flower vases, meaning sustainability. By the scene where models share the clothes, the core meaning of work-wear, tech-wear and military wear, has been changed into sharing intimacy, personality and affection with each other. Like this the meaning of Heavy-duty wear has been reinterpreted. All pictorials are related to warmth and love. Love with nature, affection between people. The purpose of this project is to make the audience feel intimacy and warmth through the details of fashion that can be overlooked.
