Experiencing Interruptions?

House Hunt: Topanga Canyon

A woman escapes 10 years in Brooklyn amidst the pandemic via leaps of faith to live an inspired life reconnecting to nature and its messages, and a vision... Topanga Canyon. Her LA friend who accompanies her to see a prospective rental and make sure this Topanga spot is actually 'livable', is not convinced beauty outweighs the practicalities of life's demands. "What's your budget? Does it have AC and cell service?", he asks. Is she even listening when these questions are answered? Winds of magic are a-blowin'. Inspiration is afoot... The "Goddess" woman showing them the spot knows what's up.

Director Statement

"Follow your bliss"... Joseph Campbell said. He also later said he might have changed it to "bliss-ters!" This project is inspired by a real life gamble with the universe to uproot and hopefully upturn my life by leaving my (rent-stabilized) apartment in NY of 10 years which I'd turn down numerous buyout offers only to leave for nothing (cringe) in the end in the final months of the pandemic to seek nature, mystery, disconnect and connect with myself. I was going through a major healing phase myself after 11 concussions living in the city and quite a long bout of depression. Then, I had this moment in Topanga Canyon that was brought to me, as if by magic, where I watched and co-existed with spiders, eye-gazed with lizards, let bees drink bath water off my fingertips outdoors in Topanga while looking for work once again. I broke my routine hustle and found "A room of [my] own" for a time- a wild one. I wouldn't change the experience for anything. This bit of joy and enthusiasm for life and the Wild Divine Mother is what came of what I felt in the moment.
