Hostage

There are some awful people in power. As a dancer recently coming out of tertiary education, there is a very clear lack of acknowledgment to the arts which leads to lack of funding for our careers.

These figures leading creative industries care and fund more for their marble bathroom and clown training than they do the blood, sweat and tears put into being a creative practitioner.

All in all, when in tertiary education I felt little bit like a puppet being controlled by these power/ money hungry figures. Their choices directly effect my future within the creative industries which is simply unfair. This film is a reflection of that feeling.

Kerrod is an emerging dance artist committed to widening engagement with the arts through communities and interdisciplinary practice. He seeks to experiment with wicked problems, asking questions pertinent to our social, cultural, environmental and political times. He strives to exhaust all resources at his disposal, fueling meaning into every aspect of his work. Kerrod is deeply engaged with the world and seeks to continuously create work that addresses his ongoing questions - "why this?, "why now?".
