Honeycrisp
Honeycrisp tells the story of Hannah and Greta Lawton - two estranged sisters with a turbulent past who meet up to clean out their suddenly deceased parents cabin and repair - or end - their relationship. Coming face to face for the first time in years on the shores of the lake where they once spent their summers, these two young women confront past betrayals, uncover lingering secrets in surrounding woods, and battle with conflicting plans for the future - complicated by the reemergence of an affectionate grape harvester and his sword-weilding brother.
Co-written with the actors during production and filmed on location in the woods of Southeast Michigan, Honeycrisp is a feature-length dark comedy about modern women, magical places, and the mysteries of growing up and growing apart. Compared to the early independent films of Noah Baumbach and Lena Dunham, Honeycrisp stars Heather Call (Graces Room) Megan St. John (Thanks a Latte), introduces Keenan Odenkirk in his very first film role, and features an original score by electronic recording artist Farragut (J. McDonald).

Marc Wilkinson is a filmmaker from the cornfields of Illinois. When not writing and directing, he enjoys making music, finger painting, and exploring wooded glens. After directing dozens of short films and music videos, Wilkinson made his debut feature with the YouTuber coming-of-age drama Sunset Rock. He drinks an amount of black coffee that has been described as "stupid" and is known to get emotional when thinking about outer space.
Making Honeycrisp was a collaborative process grown out of both convenience and necessity. The secluded, mysterious nature of our location birthed the story, which we then inhabited with our characters, whom in turn our actors inhabited with themselves. Highly improvised over a long weekend (with about a years worth of weather in four days), Honeycrisp stands as a snapshot of sisterhood and a testament to the power certain places can have in focusing emotion and highlighting the past.
