'Home' sets out to tell the story of a person caught in a transitional period in life. Between jobs, relationships, interests and houses trying to recapture a sense of grounding. Through applying non-literal story elements I hope to have created something that uses fantasy to replicate something emotionally very true to real life.
The idea for 'Home' started back in 2019 when I was relocating to Brisbane for the 3rd time. It was an idea that stayed on the back burner for a while for something that could be shot with the available resources I had literally within whatever house I was living in. I pitched the project some time later to my long time friend Joe Morgan one afternoon when we were at a loss as to how to fill in our time during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and together we went about reshaping the story, adding a musical component and fleshing out the world of the main character.
Ultimately the film was shot over two weekends with a three person crew made up of myself, the lead actor Joe, and our DOP Kareem Anti for the cost of a few meals from Guzman Y Gomez.
