Hollywood Białystok

The film tells the turbulent history of amateur filmmaking in Białystok in the 1990s. The main axis of the film is the story of Piotr Krzywiec, who, after Poland's borders opened up to Western solutions, decided to conquer the world with his films using a VHS camera.
Anointed by Bono from U2 himself, Krzywiec felt that the famous American dream could also be fulfilled in small Białystok. It was there that he dreamed of the world capital of amateur cinema.
Despite the lack of experience, equipment and budget, Krzywiec tried to make action films full of shootouts, explosions, planes and tanks. He is the author of four full-length action films.
His actions became an inspiration for many other filmmakers: it was in Białystok that Wojciech Koronkiewicz's "Fikcyjne pulpety" (Fictional Pulpettes), a parody of Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction", the drug-related "Scenes from Use" by Kobas Laksa, and the tetralogy of gore comedies, the macabre "Kamizelki" (Vests) by Sławek Cywoniuk based on the prose by Bolesław Prus, were all created.

The films are talked about not only by their creators or participants in the events mentioned (e.g. Andrzej Beya-Zaborski, Paweł Małaszyński, Jurek Owsiak), but also by film critics and culture critics.
Hollywood Białystok moves and makes you laugh, but first and foremost it is meant to serve as an inspiration for action - it shows how little it takes to start making films.
