Mar-ian Ejandra is a FIlipino queer filmmaker based in Manila. Through his works, he aspires to tell narratives that depict the authentic experiences of individuals existing especially in the urban milieu. He has written and directed films such as Daloy (2021) as a Far Eastern University-Manila student; it is an experimental film about the current state of the country’s territorial dispute that enables the continuing transgression of foreign vessels to FIlipino fishermen. He is currently fulfilling his aspirations to widen his craft, enriching his experiences as an Art Director and Production Designer, among others, in various film and music video productions.
Emotions, in general, make us feel vulnerable. Attachment has complicated as it may seem, those intricate moments make us feel human. In a narrative such as this, the characters' tale resonates this notion by deepening human emotions in a world that is already in disarray.
Sometimes, fleeting moments in our lives tend to recreate sentiments that stick with us until we recover either from the wounds it left or the joy it brought to us. Unfortunately, in these times, we're left with the lone objective choice; to acknowledge that feeling and knowing pain through what we've been through is an indelible experience. It may be leaving a bittersweet aftertaste but the focal message is clear to us. Pain reminds us that we are human.
