In the middle of the pandemic, Christopher Olmos began his career as a filmmaker. Facing the fears of this global crisis, the uncertainty and the question of how to take that first step. For this. Chris collaborated with his friend and also an artist, Daniel Pérez. The project was born in the loneliness and confinement to which we were subjected as humanity, time and space where thoughts were increasingly depressing. In this way, Hold Me Just Because was born. A film that portrays this entire routine and torture of that distant 2020, as a hard memory but that testifies to the great depression that we suffer as society.
After months of being locked up, I wanted to make a film that would maintain, in a certain way, the painful and depressing memory that being in this situation represented. In this confinement, the decision to have a single location was essential, since, at that time, I spent all my time in my room and I wanted to represent those moments where I just turned my thoughts around and around. Other elements such as the absence of sounds and dialogues, the black and white cinematography, also reside in decisions linked to this feeling of loneliness.
This movie and the experience of made it will always remind me of the most difficult moments that I experienced in the global crisis that hit the world and the emotional consequences that I suffered as a person, just like the rest of the society.
