Hindemith - Sonata for Cello Solo, opus 25/3
The sonata and the cellist (Yotam Baruch) are a representation of isolation.
The film was made in Frankfurt, the city that Paul Hindemith had to leave. In October 1936 his music was banned by the Nazi regime.
He could come back to see the ruined city in 1947.
The city is now the dreamland stage and the public itself for a musician that cannot present his art in other form. A modern parallel to the composer’s own dreams during his own isolation.
