Hide Your Crazy
A young man’s surprise birthday dinner for his girlfriend is not met with the response he was expecting, leading to the most frightful night of their lives.
Featuring eye-popping visual effects by the legends at Sandbox VFX (Creed III, I Tonya, Gretel & Hansel) and practical effects by makeup wizard Santino Ferrese (Star Trek: Discovery, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3), HIDE YOUR CRAZY is a horror rom-com about being truly seen.

Austin is a writer/director who uses genre and humor to confront shame and trauma. He's a Sundance Co//ab directing fellow and a ScreenCraft screenwriting fellow. His work has been honored at major festivals including Nashville, Phoenix, Denver, Atlanta, and Portland. He won two Telly Awards for "Why Music?", a branded admission video he created for the Yale School of Music.
Love is scary. To love is to lower your guard, peel off your protective layers one by one, and reveal your ugliest, most vulnerable sides. This carries the risk of terrible pain—you could be rejected by the very person whose approval means most to you. Under the circumstances, anyone might feel like a freak, subhuman, a monster unworthy of love.
I’ve been there. It’s nearly impossible to date without hurting, or being hurt by, someone you deeply care about. Someone who’s seen you naked, met your parents, and knows your darkest fears and most shameful secrets. Hide Your Crazy is my attempt to spin these truths into something fun and ultimately hopeful. Love may be scary, but we have to risk it if we ever want to find connection, intimacy, and true partnership with another soul. And by "hiding our crazy" from the world, we also deny our own potential. Because in some ways, what’s ugly about us is also what’s most beautiful. Sometimes, monsters are the most human creatures of all.
