Hidden Treasures: Badagry 4th Door of Return 2023
For a number of years, the Door of Return ceremony has taken place in Badagry, an ancient coastal town in Lagos State, Nigeria, with a powerful heritage. The 4th and latest edition sees the Diaspora delegation being exposed to new and deeper experiences. "Hidden Treasures" captures the exclusive interviews, traditional ceremonies, a special theatrical performance, and the focal point, the poignant walk along the Slave Route to the Point of No Return.

Ronke Macaulay's career has fulfilled her mission to conceptualise, plan and execute creative projects.
In 2015, she began to explore story telling via the medium of film. She was selected for a scriptwriting workshop at AFRIFF 2015, which she followed up with a course on Directing at Film School in South Africa in 2016, working on a couple of film projects as Line Producer and Associate Producer before writing, producing and directing her first solo documentary.
The film was released in early 2017, followed by two more in a Series entitled 'Green Passport' by the beginning of 2019. Further films released between 2020 and 2023 continue to explore the power of the untold story, particularly around the recurring themes of migration, identity and belonging.
Ronke's films have won several awards internationally, and she has also featured in a bestselling book about female directors in Nollywood.
Film - and specifically the short documentary genre, is the perfect channel to express my love of storytelling, and to share the passion for travel which has been at the centre of my life as a global citizen from a very young age.
